Social Business is a concept made popular by Muhammad Yunus, a Bangladeshi economist responsible for pioneering microfinance and the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006. The premise is to use the leverage and power of the capital market system and entrepreneurial businesses to make progressive social change. Our group will hold teach the concept and work together on local projects which demonstrate its effectiveness.
This group will focus its activities in the Central Phoenix area, primarily in the Downtown, Biltmore & Arcadia districts. We will explore restaurants, bars, culture, sporting activities. The Mesa East Lions Club's is a volunteer, community service organization. We serve the community by providing glasses, hearing aids, and braille readers for needy children and even leader dogs for the blind. We actively support the Boys & Girls Club and Ronald McDonald House. We send care service packages to servicemen. We also do various social events. The group is open to people 18+ years old who have a heart for community service.
